How can one tell which rom version is in the console?

I highly recommend that you read thru "The ADAM Survival Guide" that is available in PDF from numerous Adam sites including the Archive as it will bring you up to speed on the basics. The NIAD and N&B newletters will as well, but there is a lot of them to peruse.

When the ADAM boots to SmartWriter press + R and the revision will show on screen under SmartKey IV.

Wmaalouli, A person heard that I was looking for a Adam console so he stopped over with a R79 Adam. The console works great so I wanted to upgrade it to a R80. Tape drive needs some work. Funny how I was down to one working console now I have way to many.

They contain the system OS kernel (EOS) and the SmartWriter ROMs.
